In order to benefit more children, adolescents and older adults in Colombia, Doctor Clown will visit, from July, the hospitals and protection centers in Barrancabermeja, Santander. The goal is to humanize and transform care environments through therapeutic humor.
Doctor Clown is summoning people willing to give the best of themselves: their time, happiness, skills and sharing their wellbeing with whom they need it most. Luz Adriana Neira, Director and Founder of the organization, explains:
“We want to consolidate a group of volunteers who are fully willing to explore new ways of being and acquire new tools to empower their skills. By doing Laughter Therapy, we stimulate the senses of children, and it is such a powerful work that involves even their spirit.”
This organization, which has been promoting the emotional health of Colombians for 19 years, wishes to contribute to the processes of post-conflict and care for victims of the region: “We realized the social situation in the city and wanted to join all those actions that contribute to peace and reconciliation. We want to generate dynamics based on happiness and reintegration by trying to do our bit to the crucial moment in the country,” explained María Fernanda Arambarri, Regional Coordinator of Doctor Clown in Santander.

Last May, the Regional Hospital of Magdalena Medio, Barrancabermeja received the visit of Doctor Clown, who shared with more than 15 children and 60 adults. This first approach was very positive for patients and healthcare personnel, as the activity renewed the spirit in the hospital and generated a friendlier and happier dynamic. The medical staff stated that the visit was a very pleasant surprise and pledged to participate actively in the future visits of Doctor Clown, so that their patients have a day full of joy and more humanized care.
